Hello Ladies!
My aim with my makeup game has always been long lasting makeup! I am someone who will often wear my makeup for 12 hours or longer depending on the day. Just last week I had finished my 12 hour shift, had to catch a quick sleep then run off to buy a dress for a wedding the same day. I need to do everything I can to get that makeup to stick! Don't get me wrong, this probably could have been avoided by simply buying the dress a few weeks before the event. But thats not how I like to do things!
The first thing you need to know is that I have been blessed with oily skin, so this makes the game so much more difficult. So what are my tricks? My simple things to get that help my makeup game? Well folks, the YouTube cult classic as found by Nikki Tutorials, the Nivea post shave balm has been a lifesaver. It took me a while to get the hang of it, I definatly need a silicon primer over the top to lock everything into place. But with this down as my base I've noticed a significant difference to the wear time of my makeup. I used to get my foundation breaking up over my nose and just under my eyes but this has seemed to almost stop this occurring. And this is with Isolation masks coming on and off multiple times through the shift (the nurses out there know what I'm saying!). There is nothing worse than that little patch on the top of your nose that is left completely bare of makeup after putting on those stupid masks. "Now Mr Jones, you could have told me you needed a bottle of water before I had to put all this Iso gear on to walk into your room... But by all means, just let me take all this off and I'll be right back."
Just remember to choose the primer that works for your skin! As long as I have the post shave balm as the base of my makeup I have found I can use a brightening primer, one to stop oil, basically anything and I still get good results. So you do you!
My final little step to lock everything down has been the one and only Urban Decay Setting Spray! This stuff is magic! I ran out a few weeks ago and really noticed a difference. Things seem to fade quicker and you are left with a more powdery finish. Yes, I'm aware I'm wearing five different layers of products on my face but I'm going for a natural finish!!
So there it is guys! Thats my little secret for those of us who simply don't have the time to constantly touch up and blot away the oil that keeps breaking out on our faces.
Until next time,
Another Nurse x
